Learning outcomes: • Know the types of turbines and steam cycle thermal plants; • Know the effect of opening and closing the steam parameters on the efficiency of the turbine; • Know degree thermal processes in steam turbines; • Be able to calculate the degree of steam turbines; • Be able to calculate the thermal efficiency of the steam turbine.

Summary of the subject: The turbine as the main engine of modern thermal power plants, the principle of the steam turbine. Classification of steam turbines, thermal steam circuit units (STU). Regenerative feedwater heater. Intermediate superheat steam at thermal power plants. The basic equations of the theory of steam turbines. The process of energy conversion in the turbine stages. Triangles speeds. Efforts acting on the rotor blades. The power level. The specific job pairs. Additional energy losses in a single-stage steam turbines, process and I-S on their account. Internal relative efficiency degree. The impact of opening and closing the steam parameters on efficiency of the turbine. The power and efficiency of the turbine.
Assessment methods and criteria: • Written reports on laboratory work, oral examination (15%) • Work on practical exercises, oral examination (15%) • Final control (70% control measure, exam), written-oral form (70%)
