Characteristics of the educational program: Scope: field of knowledge 14 Electrical engineering specialty 143 Nuclear energy Description of the subject area: - objects of study and activity: neutron-physical, radiation, thermohydraulic and chemical processes in nuclear reactors, processes of production, conversion, use of thermal energy, heat and mass transfer in heat exchangers, increase of reliability, operation, extension and decommissioning of NPPs, treatment of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel, analysis and ensuring nuclear and radiation safety. - objectives of training: training of specialists capable of designing, operating, ensuring safety and safety culture at nuclear facilities, installation, commissioning and repair, creation of new equipment and introduction of new technologies, conducting research, teaching. -theoretical content of the subject area: theory of transfer, laws of conservation and interaction, physicochemical processes in materials and technological systems, equipment of nuclear power plants, theory of heat transfer and hydrogas dynamics. - methods, techniques and technologies for calculating processes in nuclear reactors and in the equipment of the nuclear power complex, development of technological schemes and drawings using modern engineering computer programs. - tools and equipment: tools, devices, systems, technologies of design, operation, control, monitoring, calculation codes of modeling and data processing in the study of objects of activity.
Gained competence: - knowledge and understanding of mathematics, physics, chemistry and engineering at the level required to achieve the results of the educational program, including some awareness of the latest achievements in the field; - understanding of the broad interdisciplinary context of the specialty 143 Nuclear energy; - know, understand and apply regulations, standards of engineering practice and safety rules for solving professional problems; - know and understand the basic methods and tools of experimental research in nuclear energy, be able to plan and perform experimental research, evaluate the accuracy and reliability of their results, make reasonable conclusions based on current knowledge on the subject; - know and understand the main methods of design and research in the field of nuclear energy, their theoretical foundations, scope and limitations; - know and understand the main characteristics, scope and limitations of equipment, materials and tools, engineering technologies and processes used for solving professional problems; - understand the non-technical (society, health and safety, environment, economy and industry) consequences of engineering practice.
- select and apply standard analytical, computational and experimental methods for solving complex specialized problems and practical problems in the field of nuclear energy; - correctly interpret the results of research and calculations; - identify, formulate and solve problems of nuclear energy; - understand the importance of non-technical (society, health and safety, environment, economy and industry) constraints; - make calculations of the objects of the nuclear energy complex, products, processes and systems in the field of nuclear energy that meet specific technical, economic, legislative and other requirements, which may include awareness of non-technical (society) choices and application of adequate design methodology; - apply general and specialized software, as well as programming skills to solve professional problems in the field of nuclear energy; - use scientific and technical literature, databases and other relevant sources of information to develop and justify technical and managerial decisions in nuclear energy; - apply methods of physical, mathematical and computer modeling for the purpose of detailed study and investigation of engineering issues in at least one of the areas of nuclear energy; - manage projects in one of the areas of nuclear energy, taking responsibility for decision-making; - be able to exchange information, ideas, problems and solutions with the engineering community and society in general, to discuss with specialist and non-specialists the results of research and judgments that reflect relevant technical, social and ethical issues; - be able to work independently and in a team with specialists in the field of nuclear energy and specialists in other areas; - to present and discuss the problems of nuclear energy, the results of research and developments in state and foreign languages; - skills of analysis and forecasting of the development of nuclear energy and related areas of science and technology; - developed skills of independent learning.

Academic mobility: Within the framework of the EU Erasmus + program on the basis of bilateral agreements between Lviv Polytechnic National University and educational institutions of partner countries.
Work placement(s): Pre-diploma internship according to the Master's thesis.
