Learning outcomes: • to know the current state and tendencies of development of physical nuclear safety, prospective domestic and foreign developments and the latest technologies in the field of nuclear energy; • be able to integrate theory and practice, as well as make decisions and develop an activity strategy for solving specialization problems taking into account human values, public, state and production interests.

Summary of the subject: The legal regulation of the use of nuclear energy in Ukraine and the fundamental principles of safety at nuclear power plants, as well as the basic provisions on the physical security of nuclear facilities are considered. The systems of safety of nuclear power plants, their purpose and modes of operation in emergency situations are given. The issues of non-design and freelance accidents at nuclear power facilities, their scope and stages of elimination work are considered.
Assessment methods and criteria: • reports on practical work, oral questioning (20%) • final control (80%, control measure - exam): written and oral form (70%+10%)
