Learning outcomes: In the result of studying the student must: - to know the classification of auxiliary equipment in relation to its relationship with the main NPP equipment; - to know the main characteristics, kinds of auxiliary equipment; - to know the method of choosing, calculation, and composition of auxiliary equipment and pipelines; - be able to calculate auxiliary equipment and pipelines of NPP; - be able to choose existing plant equipment; - be able to perform accuracy calculation of the selected equipment; - be able to work with reference literature, specifications and technological processes for the selection, installation and design of auxiliary equipment and pipelines.
Required prior and related subjects: – prerequisites: further mathematics, physics, technical thermodynamics; – co-requisites: emergency processes and safety systems at nuclear power plants, diagnostics of nuclear power plant equipment.
Summary of the subject: The classification of auxiliary equipment. The selection and placement of NPP auxiliary equipment. The steam turbines auxiliary equipment. The types of regenerative heaters. The heaters of low pressure. The heaters of high pressure. The heaters of mixing type. The network heaters. The equipment of the water supply plants. The high-pressure deaerators. The vacuum deaerators. The deaerators of the supplying plant of the heating network. The accumulator-tanks. The network and supply pumps. The reduced cooling and cooling plants. The pump selection. The types of pumps: the feeding, condensing, circulating and network pumps. The NPP pipelines. The methods of hydraulic calculation of pipelines. The thermal losses and thermal insulation of pipelines.
Assessment methods and criteria: • Running check (20%): the written practical classes reports, the oral examination. • Final control (80%): the test.
