Learning outcomes: - knowledge of the current state of affairs, trends of development, most important developments and the latest technologies in the field of nuclear energy; - possession of principles and methods of optimization of control systems and their elements. - be able to apply the acquired knowledge and practical skills, adapt the results of scientific research during the creation and operation of existing nuclear and thermal power systems of nuclear power plants and their constituents; - ability to apply knowledge and understanding to solve problems, analysis of elements and systems characteristic of chosen specialization.
Required prior and related subjects: • Higher mathematics; • Physics • Management of the service cycle and decommissioning of the NPP; • Nuclear power reactors
Summary of the subject: NPP work in power systems. NPP and power grids. Requirements for maneuverability of NPP units. Maneuverable characteristics of NPP units with WWER reactors. Manipulative characteristics of NPP units with RBMK reactors. Maneuverable characteristics of NPP units with BN reactors. Ways to increase maneuverability of the NPP. Radiation safety of nuclear power plants. General approaches to radioactive waste management at NPPs.
Assessment methods and criteria: • reports on practical work, oral questioning (30%) • final control (control measure - exam): written and oral form (70%)
