Мета вивчення дисципліни: The discipline "Monumental Design (Architectural Design)" aims to study the basics of monumental design in the integrated design of the architectural environment; familiarization with the principles, techniques and means of monumental design; improving the level of professional training of students in the field of architectural and design design. As a result of completing the course, students should understand the role of monumental design in architecture, know the basic concepts of scientific methodology, and be proficient in professional terminology.
Завдання: The study of the discipline involves the formation and development of students' competencies: integral competence - the ability to solve creative problems of a research and/or innovative nature in architecture and urban planning. general competencies: GC01. Ability to think abstractly, analyze and synthesize. GC04: Ability to use information and communication technologies. GC05. The desire to preserve the environment. GC06: Ability to act on the basis of ethical considerations (motives). GC07. Knowledge and understanding of the subject area and understanding of professional activities. professional competencies: PC01. Ability to integrate knowledge and solve complex problems of architecture and urban planning in broad or multidisciplinary contexts. PC02. Ability to solve problems of architecture and urban planning in new or unfamiliar environments in the presence of incomplete or limited information, taking into account aspects of social and ethical responsibility. PC05. Ability to develop and implement projects in the field of architecture and urban planning. PC06. Ability to analyze international and domestic experience, collect, accumulate and use information necessary to solve research and innovation problems in the field of architecture and urban planning. PC07. Ability to project modeling and research of conceptual, full-scale and computer models of architecture and urban planning objects. PC10. Ability to generate new ideas and develop innovative solutions in the field of architecture and urban planning. PC11. Ability to critically comprehend the problems of architecture and urban planning.
Learning outcomes: As a result of studying the discipline, the student must be able to demonstrate the following program learning outcomes: LO 01. Have specialized conceptual knowledge that includes modern scientific achievements in the field of architecture and urban planning and is the basis for original thinking and research. LO 02. Possess specialized problem-solving skills necessary for conducting research and/or conducting innovative activities in the field of architecture and urban planning in order to develop new knowledge and procedures. LO 03. Carry out pre-project analysis of architectural and urban objects and territories. LO 04. Understand and apply in practice the theoretical and practical principles of designing innovative urban planning objects, residential, public, industrial buildings and structures, reconstruction and restoration of architectural objects, methods of achieving rational architectural and planning, volumetric-spatial, constructive solutions, ensuring socio-economic efficiency, environmental friendliness, energy efficiency. LO 06. Ensure the harmonization of architectural objects and the built environment, in particular with the application of the principles and methods of the theory of architectural environment design. LO 15. Analyze international and domestic experience in the design of architecture and urban planning.

Summary of the subject: The subject of the course "Monumental Design" is the study of the social content, ideological, typological and methodological foundations of the architectural and spatial organization of monumental objects of various types; methods and means of their spatial organization and artistic and emotional impact on people. The main objective of the course is to train architects who would have creative thinking and methods, compositional skills and professional knowledge in the field of monumental design.

The concept of monumental design, monumental and monumental decorative art. Lecture 1. History of the development and formation of world monumental architecture and design in the context of cultural development; Lecture 2. Ideological, educational, sacred and symbolic content of objects of monumental architecture and design; Lecture 3. Monumental design of Ukraine: identity, tradition and modernity; Lecture 4. Artistic and emotional, informative and cognitive content of works of monumental architecture and monumental sculpture; Section 2. Theory and practice of designing objects of monumental architecture and design; Lecture 5. Typology of monumental design objects; Lecture 6. Means of monumental and decorative art and design in the urban environment; Lecture 7. Proportional structure and dimensions of monuments, monuments and other objects of monumental art; Lecture 8. Basic principles of spatial organization of monumental objects and their complexes; Section 3. The city in anticipation of the future. Five themes-utopias of the past for the design of the architectural environment of modern Lviv; Lecture 9. "The City and the River"; Lecture 10. "Lviv - the port of 2, 3, 4, 5... seas"; Lecture 11. "The Green Ring of Lviv"; Lecture 12. "The City on Seven Hills"; Lecture 13. "Subway in Lviv".
Assessment methods and criteria: Current control: conducting a random oral survey during lectures and practical classes, assessing activity in the classroom, checking practical assignments, and evaluating participation in discussions. The grade is the sum of the points gained by the student for the current work during the semester.
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: Completeness and clarity of disclosure of the idea of the projected object; coordination of the location of the projected object with the chosen subject; justification of the chosen solution; compliance of the proposed imaginative solution of the projected object with the chosen subject.
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100-88 points - ("excellent") is assigned for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literature sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena studied in their interconnection and development, clearly, concisely, logically, consistently answer the questions posed, the ability to apply theoretical provisions in solving practical problems; 87-71 points - ("good") is assigned for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions in solving practical problems; 70 - 50 points - ("satisfactory") is assigned for poor knowledge of the educational material of the component, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for poor application of theoretical provisions in solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is assigned for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions in solving practical problems; 25-00 - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is assigned for ignorance of a significant part of the component's educational material, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate in solving practical problems, ignorance of the basic fundamental provisions.
