Summary of the subject: Rationale for energy efficiency, the role of legislation in ensuring energy efficiency, choice of energy, economic substantiation of energy saving measures. Installations of electric heating: arc furnace direct, indirect and mixed heating. The process characteristics and electric modes. Electric arc and features heat in the working area of the electric arc furnace. Electrical arc and optimization of electrical power and technological characteristics furnaces. Optimizing energy use in the management of electrical arc. Energy-saving and optimization asymmetrical, non-sinusoidal and rapidly changing modes of electro-technological installations. Managing energy use in electro-technological installations in asymmetrical and non-sinusoidal modes.
Assessment methods and criteria: • a written report of laboratory and design works, oral (30%); • final control – exam: writing oral form (70%).
