Learning outcomes: • to know the basic concepts of the theory, construction and functioning principles of information transmission and acquisition systems to ensure electric power systems operation; • to be acquainted with the information exchange systems, possibilities of optimization and reliability increase of electric network control based on modern information and communication technologies; • ability to analyze the operating modes of electrical systems based on the results of mathematical modeling and applied software of information systems; • ability to make administrative decisions according to the technological principles of electric power systems functioning.

Summary of the subject: Information transmission systems. The basic model of interaction of open OSI systems. The physical layer of the OSI model. Traditional lines of communication in power industry. The OSI model data link layer. The transmission of information over a physical channel. Information encoding. Information support for power transmission and power supply processes. Automation of dispatching control and data acquisition. SCADA software. Purpose and types of automated systems. Automated control systems of technological processes. Electric power quality control systems. Designation of the automated systems of dispatching control. Automated systems of commercial accounting of electric energy. Billing systems. Systems MPP, MRPII, ERP CSRP.
Assessment methods and criteria: • written reports on laboratory course, oral questioning (30%); • final control (control event – exam): written and oral form (70%).
