Мета вивчення дисципліни: The applicant must have basic knowledge of the basics of biochemistry. As a result of studying the discipline, students will receive practical knowledge and skills necessary for a future specialist in the field of biomedical engineering.
Завдання: The study of the academic discipline involves the formation of the necessary competencies in students: The ability to solve complex specialized tasks and practical problems in biomedical engineering and the Internet of Things or in the learning process, which involves the application of certain theories and methods of chemical, biological and medical engineering, and is characterized by complexity and uncertainty conditions
Learning outcomes: • Know the basic knowledge of fundamental sciences, to the extent necessary for learning of general professional disciplines. • Know the basic knowledge of natural sciences and engineeeering, needed for learning of professionally oriented disciplines. • Know the implementing basics of chemistry of natural, pharmaceutical, toxemia-carcinogenic and other biologically active substances. structure and properties of inorganic, organic and bioorganic compounds, and methods of their qualitative and quantitative analysis in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries • Know the structure, morphology, physiology, biochemistry and genetics of biological objects and the possibilities of experimental research in microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology and so on. • Know the fundamentals of the structure and functioning of microorganisms, plant and animal cell and their components.
Required prior and related subjects: Prerequisites: Biology of cells, Organic chemistry, Anatomy, physiology and diagnosis of a man Co-requisites: General Microbiology and Virology, Genetics, Pharmaceutical chemistry, Fundamentals of enzymology and immobilization, Chemistry of natural bioactive compounds.
Summary of the subject: The discipline "Fundamentals of biochemistry" introduces students to the modern understanding of basic life processes at the molecular level, the composition and structure of cell membranes and cells themselves. The course "Fundamentals of Biochemistry" is the theoretical basis on which other special disciplines - biophysics - are studied. In accordance with modern requirements, this training course includes lectures and practical classes, as well as independent work of students under the supervision of a teacher.
Опис: The chemical composition and structure of cell walls. The cell membranes. The structure of amino acids. Proteins, structure of proteins. Classification of proteins. Classification of lipids. Fatty acids. The functions of lipids. Classification of carbohydrates. The biological function of carbohydrates. Nucleosides, nucleotides and nucleic acids. The structure of nucleic acids. Classification and nomenclature of enzymes. The specificity of enzymes. Regulation of enzymes action. Fat-soluble and water-soluble vitamins, their role in living organisms. Hormones of humans and animals.Metabolism. Methods of studying the metabolism. The energy exchange. Metabolism and functions of carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids, nucleotides. Biosynthesis and catabolism of steroid hormones. Regulation of water-salt metabolism, metabolism of calcium and phosphates, carbohydrates, fats and amino acids. Biochemistry of individual organs and systems. Biochemistry of extracellular matrix. Liver. Disposal of metabolites and exchange of foreign compounds. Blood. Muscles.
Assessment methods and criteria: The main methods of knowledge diagnosis are: current (PC) and semester control (SC), which is carried out from educational material, the scope of which is determined by the work program of the discipline for the semester. Current control is carried out during lectures and laboratory classes in order to check the level of assimilation of theoretical and practical knowledge and skills of the student. PC is conducted in the form of performance of control work, written and oral control and protection of laboratory work. • monitoring of lectures, as a selective oral survey of students; • test control and oral survey in laboratory classes on studied topics; • verification and assessment of written assignments in all laboratory classes and individual assignments (KR). Semester control is carried out in the form of differentiated assessment. Differentiated credit is a form of SC of the student's study results for all types of work provided by the program of the academic discipline for the semester.
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: • Written reports on laboratory works, two individual tasks – 30 points; • Summary control - 70 points ( control, exam): written-oral form.
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 00–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
