Characteristics of the educational program: Generalized object of bachelor of materials science is metallic, non-metallic, composite, powder, and nanomaterials, their composition, structure and properties, methods of their research; manufacturing of products for various purposes; technological processes that ensure the required quality of materials and products from them. Students gain skills in: - theoretical basis of materials science; - experimental methods and techniques of research of structure, physical, mechanical, functional and technological properties of materials; - use of computer software for rational selection of materials and technological processes; - determination of mechanical, physical and technological properties of materials, their structure evaluation; - conduction of expertise research, metrological evaluation and certification of materials.
Gained competence: - principles of structure formation in materials and influence of structure on the physical properties; - knowledge of the nature of deformation and destruction of materials, principles of materials creation with desired mechnaical properties; - knowledge of the basic groups of functional and nanomaterials, ways of their processing for products manufacturing; - influence of technological processing of materials on their structural and phase state and properties of products; - methods of control of materials properties and quility of products; - certification of materials and metal production.
- ability to use information and compose business documents; - ability to work on modern computer hardware and use specialized software; - ability to use standard methods to determine structure, chemical and phase composition of materials; - ability to determine mechanical, technological, physical properties of materials; - ability to apply non-destructive quality control of materials and products; - ability to use existing standards and regulations in practice; - ability to consider the basic economic laws, ecological principles and apply elements of social-cultural competence; - ability to gain new knowledge, progressive technologies and innovations; - ability to consider social-polytical proceses of Ukrainian history, legal principles and ethical norms in industrial and social activities; - skills in oral and written communication using official language and at least one of the common European languages; - production skills of communication and group work.
- analyze physical phenomena that occur in materials during their production and manufacturing; - perform rational choice of materials, energy-saving and environmentally friendly technologies of products manufacturing; - organize measurement of physical, electrical, magnetic and other parameters and use them for quality control and certification of materials and products; - ability to choose the standard materials and technologies for restoration and repairing of products; - determine types and mechnaisms of materials damage, destruction of products and to offer effective countermeasures; - ability to create technological documentation.

Occupational profiles of graduates: Professional activities of bachelors in materials science are defined by using of the acquired knowledge and skills in the field of modern materials science, new technologies of materials and products processing, ensuring restoration and repairing of products, implementation of marketing activities, acting as leaders and organizers of production. The scope of bachelors in Materials Science is research and development institutions, enterprises of machine building, instrument-making, automobile, aerospace, light industry, metallurgy, energy industry, construction and educational institutions of different levels of accreditation. Specialist in materials science performs selection of materials and technological processes for production according to performance conditions and requirements of modern design.; technological processes of product processing according to demands of the wast branches of industry; determines properties of materials, studies their structure by using modern methods, evaluates the quality and conducts expertise research of the causes of destruction of products and constructions; develops new recovery, utilization and recycling of materials; provides services for the certification of metal products.

Other program features: The program is implemented in Ukrainian and English. Curriculum is adapted to European programs under the Bologna process based on the implementation of the international project TEMPUS MMATENG. During the study, students have the opportunity to participate in international academic mobility program ERASMUS + KA1 in Belgium, France, and Poland.
