Learning outcomes: • basic knowledge of the structure of atoms and molecules, the relationship between energy electrons in atoms and molecules structure and their properties; • to know basic chemical elements and their compounds; • to develop skills of independent, perform of chemical experiments, synthesis; experimental evidence and forming conclusions; • to have a worldview knowledge of chemical theories and laws; • to know the physical and chemical properties and practical importance of substances; to have the correctly contact with the most important chemical compounds and equipment in the industry; • to be able to independently replenish, organize and apply knowledge for practical purposes.

Summary of the subject: Basic concepts and laws of chemistry. The relationship of the electronic structure of atoms of chemical elements with their position in the Periodic system and with the properties of the main compounds and simple substances. The theory of electrolytic dissociation and hydrolysis. Redox reactions. Energy of chemical reactions. Chemical kinetics and equilibrium. The ionization energy and electron affinity to. General properties of metals. A number of active metals. Natural metal compounds. Electrochemical processes. Galvanic element. Electrolysis with soluble and insoluble anode. Usage electrolysis in technology. Corrosion of metals. Methods of corrosion protection. Chemical reactions in nature and use of chemical compounds and materials in modern technology.
Assessment methods and criteria: • written reports on laboratory works, oral questioning, control work (30%) • final control (control measure - credit): written and oral form (70%)
