Learning outcomes: "Restoration of stone sculpture" is to master the methods and technology of restoration of stone sculpture, the development of technical and analytical thinking. The aim of the project is to acquaint the student with the methods of studying and using originals and analogues in the restoration of stone sculpture, mastering the method of cleaning, salting, strengthening, gluing and supplementing stone sculptures and techniques and technologies for selecting materials for restoration and student training. to the independent decision of the questions connected with restoration of a stone. The course is designed to form a student-restorer as a specialist who will be able to organically apply in practice their own level of knowledge and creative skills in the restoration of stone sculpture.
Required prior and related subjects: Prequisite: Historical techniques and technologies of stone processing, Restorative materials science, History of decorative and applied arts. Co-requisites: Historical techniques and technologies of stone processing, Scientific bases of research of architectural decor of historical buildings, History of restoration by specialty.
Summary of the subject: "Restoration of stone sculpture" is based on the study of the following educational blocks - scientific and technological examination of stone sculpture, methods of developing a restoration project, studying methods of restoration of works of art from limestone, sandstone, marble, artificial stone, etc. The possibility of using synthetic polymers, pigments, biocides and antiseptics used in restoration for restoration is being studied. Study of artificial masses used in the restoration of works of art from limestone and sandstone. Study of methods of storage and care of stone sculpture. The study of the discipline is the method of sequential teaching of material in the form of thematic blocks.
