Learning outcomes: • Knowledge of rules for conversion of numbers from one numeric system to another one; Boolean algebra laws; electronic elements of digital and microprocessor engineering; construction and commands of microcontrollers of 8x51 series; construction of memory devices, analog-to-digital converters, digital-to-analog converters and ways of linking them to microcontrollers; minimization of combination and series digital devices; development of electric diagrams of digital and microprocessor devices; programming by means of assembler language for microcontrollers of 8x51 series; • ability to apply the gained knowledge at practice for development of microprocessor devices for measurement of physical values by indirect method.
Required prior and related subjects: Prerequisites: • Computer Technologies and Programming, part 1, part 2; • Electrical Measurements; • Electronics and Circuits Engineering; • Software Tools for Drawing the Automation System Elements Co-requisites: • Automation Devices, • Microprocessor and Programmable Automation Devices.
Summary of the subject: Development of the operation algorithm, diagram and construction of an intellectual sensor on the basis of a microprocessor device. Design and programming of a keypad and seven-segment display controller. Selection, description of operation and specifications of an analog to digital converter, primary measurement transducers, information input and output channel being applied in RS485 communication interface. Development of the functioning program of and intellectual sensor constructed on the basis of microcontroller of 8x51 series.
