Learning outcomes: • to know: basic concepts of the theory of groups, organizations and communities; stages and models of groups, organizations and communities; features, principles and practical models of social work with groups, organizations and communities; forms, methods of research groups, organizations and communities; methods of intervention in the development of organizations and communities. • to be able to: use basic principles, technologies, methods of group social work and social work with communities; perform different roles of social worker, working with groups, organizations and communities; intervene in the development of groups, organizations and communities; mobilize communities and organizations to develop through participation; writing projects and proposals for the development of groups, communities and organizations.

Summary of the subject: Initial concepts of group social work. Concept and types of groups. Stages of group development. Organization of group social work. Technology of training. Self-managed group work. Theoretical and methodological basis of organizations and communities. Models of community and organization. The network of social relationships in the community and the organization. Principles and models of social work with organizations and communities. Technologies of intervention in community development and development of organization.
Assessment methods and criteria: • oral interviews, participation in discussions, presentation of the study project (40%) • final control (verification event, exam), written-oral form (60%)

Socialization: the path of a person through a group. Stages of group development. Interdependence and influence in groups. Communication in groups. Moduses of group work. The role of the leader in the group process. Ethical issues of group counseling. Organization of group social work. Team management techniques. Technology of trainings. Self-directed group work. Community as a specific social community. Community: features, types and characteristics. Community structure and its social capital. State and civil society. Individual and social helplessness: analysis of the phenomenon. The concept of "capacity" as a personal and group power. History of community social work. Work in the community: principles, methods, approaches. Approaches to community development. Participatory development. Resistance to community change and ways to overcome it. Methods and tools for community participation. Models of community social work. A person in the community through the prism of motivation to act. Community development planning: theoretical and practical aspects.
