Learning outcomes: Apply modern sociological concepts, concepts, theories and results of empirical research to describe and explain social phenomena and processes. To diagnose and interpret current problems of Ukrainian society and the world community, their causes and consequences. Develop social research projects and justify their methodology. Prepare reporting documents and research papers based on the results of social research in accordance with the established requirements. Solve ethical dilemmas in accordance with the norms of professional ethics of the sociologist and universal values. Teach sociological and related disciplines using classical and modern concepts and teaching methods. Summarize the results of their own research in various forms (abstracts, articles, reports, presentations, etc.). Be able to collect, systematize and summarize social information in professional activities. Specialized problem-solving skills required for research and / or innovation in order to develop new knowledge and procedures. Ability to integrate knowledge and solve complex problems in broad or multi-disciplinary contexts. Responsibility for contributing to professional knowledge and practice and / or evaluating the performance of teams and teams.

Summary of the subject: Postmodernism as a sociocultural phenomenon. Social, historical and intellectual origins of Postmodernism. Postmodernism as the latest worldview paradigm. The influence of postmodern discourse on the development of sociological knowledge: M. Foucault, J.-F. Lyotard, J. Baudrillard, P. Bourdieu, J. Habermas, E. Giddens, Z. Bauman, F. Jamison, R. Inglehart. Essential characteristics of the "Postmodern situation". Transformation of society and culture in the conditions of Postmodernism. Postmodernization of modern Ukrainian society. The concept of globalization and its essential features. Globalization as a subject of social sciences research. Globalism as a branch of scientific knowledge. The phenomenon of globalization from a sociological point of view: M. Waters, R. Robertson, E. Giddens, U. Beck, L. Skler, I. Wallerstein, G. Turnborn. The complex nature of globalization processes. Economic, political, social and cultural dimensions of globalization. Contradictions, problems and threats of the globalization process. Ukraine's place in globalization processes and features of its inclusion in the global world system.
Assessment methods and criteria: • oral interview, participation in discussions, abstracts (40%) • final control (control measure, exam): written form (60%)
