Learning outcomes: Apply modern sociological concepts, concepts, theories and results of empirical research to describe and explain social phenomena and processes. To diagnose and interpret current problems of Ukrainian society and the world community, their causes and consequences. Develop social research projects and justify their methodology. Be able to organize and conduct social research using valid and reliable methods. It is argued to present one's own opinion, to be critical and self-critical in discussions with opponents. Teach sociological and related disciplines using classical and modern concepts and teaching methods. Specialized conceptual knowledge, which includes modern scientific achievements in the field of professional activity or field of knowledge and is the basis for original thinking and research. Critical understanding of problems in the field and on the border of fields of knowledge. Specialized problem-solving skills required for research and / or innovation in order to develop new knowledge and procedures. Ability to integrate knowledge and solve complex problems in broad or multi-disciplinary contexts. Ability to solve problems in new or unfamiliar environments with incomplete or limited information, taking into account aspects of social and ethical responsibility Responsibility for contributing to professional knowledge and practice and / or evaluating the performance of teams and teams.

Summary of the subject: The concept of social problem. The emergence of the concept of social problem. Main ontological understanding of the social problem. Traditional approaches to social problems Alternative approaches to social problems. Constructionists approach to social problems. The process of social "problematisation." "Creation" (construction) of social issues for political purposes and the role of the media. Social problems and social policy. The concept of program and design in solving social problems. The basic requirements of projects in solving social problems. The types of projects in solving social problems.
Assessment methods and criteria: • oral interviews, participation in discussions, presentation of the study project (40%) • final control (verification event, exam), written-oral form (60%)
