Learning outcomes: knowledge of the history of European integration and the development of EU legal system; knowledge of basic concepts, special features, and principles of EU law; knowledge of EU legislation in various policy fields; ability to solve factual problems applying the EU legislation; ability to interpret, analyse, and comment upon the sources of EU law; ability to communicate, make speeches, prepare written documents based on the principles and rules of EU legal order.

Summary of the subject: History of European integration and the evolution of EU law. Institutional structure of the European Union. The EU judicial order. Sources of EU law. European Union legislative procedure. Citizenship of the European Union. Fundamental rights in the European Union. The common foreign and security policy. Free movement of goods, persons, services and capital. Trade law of the European Union. The area of freedom, security, and justice.
Assessment methods and criteria: oral questioning, presentations, differentiated test (multiple-choice tests, short answers, extended written responses)
