Learning outcomes: • to demonstrate knowledge of the basics of geoinformation systems and software tools that use GIS technologies; • to demonstrate the ability work with modern GIS; to collect geographic information; to carry out cartographic overlay of layers and cartographic modeling; • to demonstrate know the main directions of development and the prospects for the practical application of GIS technologies to solve problems in international relations.

Summary of the subject: GIS technology in the current world. Hardware of GIS technologies. Attributive information in GIS. Methods of formalizing spatially distributed information. Technologies of spatial data input. Submitting information to GIS. Analytical capabilities of modern GIS. Modern software and geoinformation systems.
Assessment methods and criteria: • Formative assessment (30%): oral questioning, test and laboratory tasks. • Summative assessment (70%): credit in written and oral form.
