Learning outcomes: Students should know: - main leisure categories (the concept of "leisure", its varieties and functions); - periodicals that have formed a culture of leisure since the beginning of journalism in this process; - leading Ukrainian and foreign mass media of today in the field of leisure journalism; - classification of leisure journalism as a component of the journalistic system. Students must be able to: - evaluate individual journalistic materials, publications, projects and journalism in general for the formation of leisure culture; - to create author's journalistic materials of various genres (from reports on cultural topics to scientific and educational articles) about, for and for the quality of leisure time of the audience and the formation of leisure culture in society.
Required prior and related subjects: Prerequisites: Introduction to journalism; Theory and methods of journalistic creativity; History of Ukrainian journalism. Co-requisites: Journalistic skills; Audiovisual journalism; Internet, TV and radio journalism.
Summary of the subject: The discipline "Leisure Journalism" is designed for students majoring in 061 "Journalism" in the third year of study. It is aimed at providing future journalists with two important special functions of journalism - cultural and entertainment, which correspond to certain streams of information in the media - scientific and educational and aesthetic and entertainment information. The purpose of studying the discipline - awareness of journalism as the most effective means of forming a culture of human leisure and the responsibility of this social institution for the education of such a culture in society; the ability to create content for human leisure (especially media leisure) of the audience. Tasks of the discipline: - to reveal the range of possibilities of journalism to organize human leisure and prove the importance of its role in this process; - to demonstrate the change of leisure journalism from the appearance of this type of material in periodicals to the present day on a global and local Ukrainian scale; - to acquaint with the palette of specialized educational and entertaining mass media of Ukraine and abroad; - to reveal the positives and negatives of modern leisure journalism in general and leisure mediatization in particular.
