Завдання: The tasks of this discipline are to master the basic theoretical principles, methods and methods of scientific knowledge in order to acquire the relevant competencies, create the necessary background and motivation for independent professional scientific research, in particular, in the field of ecology.
Learning outcomes: PR07. To be able to communicate in a foreign language in the scientific, industrial and social spheres of activity.
PR08. Be able to clearly and unambiguously convey professional knowledge, own justifications and conclusions to specialists and the general public.
PR10. Demonstrate awareness of the latest principles and methods of environmental protection.
PR13. Be able to assess the potential impact of man-made objects and economic activities on the environment.
PR20. To have the basics of carrying out environmental studies and ecological expert assessment of the impact on the environment.

Summary of the subject: The policy regarding the academic integrity of the participants of the educational process is formed on the basis of compliance with the principles of academic integrity, taking into account the norms "Regulations on academic integrity at the Lviv Polytechnic National University" (approved by the academic council of the university on June 20, 2017, protocol No. 35).

2. Imperatives of scientific activity. General concepts of scientific activity. Organization of research activities in Ukraine.
Scientific method and basics of research methodology. Scientific method. The subject of the methodology of science. Methodology of scientific knowledge: concepts, classification levels and basic principles. Stages of research work. Correlation of the purpose and tasks of the research. Basic elements of scientific research methodology. General characteristics of scientific methods. Classification of scientific research methods. The process of scientific research. Research methodology. Research results.
Theoretical research methods. Principles are tools of knowledge. Abstraction and idealization. Methods of analysis, classification and construction of theories. Theoretical research methods. Scientific laws, regularity and randomness. Problems of theoretical research. Components of theoretical research.
Empirical research methods and data processing tools for empirical research. Basic concepts of measurement theory. Observation as a method of knowledge. Experiment as a special form of scientific knowledge. Empirical research methods. General and special methods of scientific research.

The process of collecting and analyzing scientific information. Peculiarities of information search during scientific research. Rules for working with scientific literature. Technology of work on the content of scientific work. Organization of writing and design of scientific research. General characteristics, choosing a research topic, drawing up a dissertation plan, execution sequence, preparatory stage, working with the text, design. Basic requirements for writing and issuing diplomas.
The technology of work on presenting the results of a diploma thesis. Presentation, protection, approval and implementation of the results of scientific research. The essence of a scientific publication, its main types, functions, number and volume. Scientific monograph, scientific article, theses of a scientific report. Abstract. Scientific Article. Speech, report, informative message at seminars, scientific, scientific and practical conferences, symposia. Defense of the dissertation. Implementation of the results of completed scientific research.
Assessment methods and criteria: Methods of assessing the level of achievement of learning outcomes - current and examination control.
Knowledge assessment methods: selective oral survey, performance of practical work and presentations at seminars, tests. Exam - oral survey, test control.

Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: The discipline "Scientific research and seminars on their subject" is a key element of the general training of masters in the field of ecology and plays an important role in the formation of competencies necessary for scientific and scientific-pedagogical activities. This discipline is based on philosophical sciences, physical-mathematical and other natural sciences, which creates a theoretical basis for understanding the scientific method and approaches to research. The academic discipline "Scientific research and seminars on their subject" is designed for the formation of master's skills in the use and development of creative potential, activation of abilities for scientific and scientific-pedagogical activities.
The priority task of this discipline is for students to master the basic theoretical principles, methods and methods of scientific knowledge with the aim of acquiring relevant competencies, creating the necessary background and motivation for independent professional scientific research, in particular, in the field of ecology. The course will allow to develop the necessary preparation for further scientific activity in the field of ecology and ensures their readiness to perform professional research and scientific and pedagogical work.
