Learning outcomes: Understanding of nature and laws of processes and phenomena that are the object of study in the course “Electricity and Magnetism”; theoretical justification of possibility of the practical usage of such phenomena. Forming of scientific point of view: understanding that the field, together with the matter, is one of the forms of existence of the world substance. Knowledge of methods of solving the problems and tasks from the course. Application of methods learned from the higher mathematics to to the solution of physical problems.
Required prior and related subjects: Prerequisites: Mechanics; Molecular Physics and Thermodynamics; Corequisites: Mathematical Analysis; Differential Equations
Summary of the subject: Electrostatic field in vacuum; dielectrics and conductors in in electroststic field; direct electric current; magnetic field in vacuum; magnetic field in matter; electromagnetic induction; fundamentals of Maxwell's theory of electromagnetic field; electromagnetic vibrations and waves.
Assessment methods and criteria: Current control (30%); final control- exam, written- oral form (70%)
