Learning outcomes: Ability to use the methods of description of the mechanical properties and the dynamics of condensed matter including the solid state, low-dimensional systems and nanoobjects. Understanding of fundamentals of physical theory based on the variational principles and conservation laws. The skill to apply the methods of the differential equation theory to physical problems.

Summary of the subject: Particle kinematics and dynamics. Small vibrations. Kinematics of mechanical systems. Main principles and variational methods in mechanics. Canonical equations. Hamilton – Jacobi formalism. Kinematics and dynamics of solid state. Fundamentals of continuous media and mechanics of elastic body. Principles of mechanics of liquids.
Assessment methods and criteria: Curent control: (30%). Final control: exam, written-oral form (70%)
