Learning outcomes: • know the physical basis of creation and use of nanomaterials and nanocomposites; • be able to apply means of control of parameters and properties of nanoscale objects; • be able to critically evaluate the advantages, disadvantages and areas of possible application of new nanomaterials and nanotechnologies; • have an idea of current trends in theoretical and experimental research in the chosen field of technical physics; • choose the best ways to implement new ideas and use the latest advances in nanotechnology.
Required prior and related subjects: • prerequisites: basics of nanomaterials science, modern methods of physical research, solid state physics, physics and technology of nanosystems, physical materials science, physics of quantum-dimensional systems, nanomaterials science; • co-requisites: new generation molecular energy devices, physics and technology of nanosystems, functional materials of molecular energy, performance of master's qualification work.
Summary of the subject: Scientific bases of nanotechnology. Physical reasons for the specific properties of nanomaterials. Methods of nanomaterial production. Methods of research of structure and properties of nanoobjects. Nanocluster modifications of Carbon. Nanotubes. Nanoclusters and nanocrystals. Nanofilms, nanowires and nanofibers. Biological nanoscale and polymer structures. . Nanocomposites: definition, classification. structure of nanocomposites depending on the matrix and filler. Properties of nanocomposites. The use of nanocomposites for various purposes.
Assessment methods and criteria: • written reports on individual work, oral examination, control work (30%); • final control (70%, control measure, differential test): written and oral form (55 + 15%).
