Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Part 1
Major: Environment Design
Code of subject: 6.022.03.O.4
Credits: 7.50
Department: Design and Architecture Fundamentals
Lecturer: Olha Merie, Ph.D. in Architecture, Assistant Professor;
Adriana Hromniuk, Candidate of Architecture, Assistant
Semester: 1 семестр
Mode of study: денна
Learning outcomes: As a result of studying the discipline, the student must be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:
understand: the purpose and place of the course "Painting, drawing, sculpture" in the general system of professional training of a designer; the role of the application of artistic techniques and means in the process of depicting three-dimensional space; the role of composition, color, rules of perspective and lighting theory.
know: the main categories, methods, rules of artistic transfer of reality; methods of finding ideas. The educational drawing includes many questions and tasks which should be solved interconnectedly and if possible simultaneously: it is a question of a design of the movement, proportions, prospects, light and shade, color and the texture of a composition, etc .; laws of development of forms in time and space; interdependence of coordination of various components that create the unity of the whole.
be able to: consciously see a three-dimensional form, logically analyze it in space and competently depict it on a two-dimensional plane with appropriate artistic and graphic means and techniques; keep the unity of external and internal analysis of the shape of the volume when drawing from nature; to see the constructive and geometric basis of the form by external signs; to draw methodically - from general, whole to specific; to see in nature the main, characteristic, to sharpen the typical, to reject the secondary, accidental; connect details with the whole; on the basis of compositional laws, rules of perspective, theory of lighting, to be able to realistically and convincingly depict reality, skillfully interpreting the features of the pictorial object, its aesthetic essence; develop the ability to cover the essentials in sketches and convey it by concise means. Be able to select the main and secondary in the process of depicting buildings and subject-spatial environment, have the skills of generalization and stylization;
The study of the discipline involves the formation and development of students' competencies:
general:
understanding of the value of world culture, regional and national traditions, readiness to study and preserve the achievements of world culture in the art of design;
ability to think creatively, to initiate innovative decisions in the project process;
ability to apply professionally profiled knowledge and practical skills in fundamental disciplines in the design process;
professional:
understanding ways to create visual information by drawing from memory and imagination in the process of creative work on the project;
ability to meaningfully choose and apply techniques and means of drawing and painting;
the ability to create from memory and imagination artistically expressive graphic or pictorial images of spatial forms and volumes by means of drawing and painting.
program learning outcomes:
the graduate is able to apply professionally profiled knowledge and practical skills in fundamental disciplines in the design process;
the graduate knows the history of design, the basic principles of the theory of composition and formation, geometric modeling and formation of objects of material culture, concepts and methods of using lighting, color, texture and texture in design, criteria of aesthetic expression of images, application of drawing, painting and sculpture in design;
the graduate knows and applies in practice the basic aesthetic categories, laws of composition, economic and ecological principles of creation of objects and elements of socio-cultural competence.
Required prior and related subjects: Related disciplines: "Fundamentals of subject environment design", "Plastanatomy, anthropometry", "Engineering and design graphics", "Landscape design", "History of art", "Fundamentals of composition and shaping", "Color".
Summary of the subject: The discipline is consistently based on auxiliary topics of theoretical and practical provisions that reveal the basic laws of the process of drawing and painting. The educational work is accompanied by a short theoretical presentation in the form of explanations of teachers in the process of performing tasks, or in introductory lectures, which open the relevant topics. Compositional options, tools, techniques, materials - are selected depending on the topic of the task and the duration of the academic drawing.
The basics of painting are studied in still lifes, in the interior, in the open air, on living models, and educational productions are distributed in a certain methodical sequence according to the complexity of the task. Primary skills in painting are well mastered in the studios of still life (still lifes). Productions should be varied according to the nature of the program tasks. The main studios take place under natural side lighting. These include the formulation of a three-dimensional (realistic) solution. Still life with a specific color palette (warm scale, cold scale) deserve special attention in the study of color. The study of color with direct lighting leads to a decorative-plane solution to the problem. Studies on such productions will help designers to use the acquired skills in further creative work and project activities.
In parallel with the study of color, attention is paid to the tone of color spots, the light dominant in the composition is sought.
The main themes of painting are: realistic and decorative still lifes, portrait of a man, human figure, architecture and plein air painting.
Compositional options, tools, techniques, materials are selected depending on the topic of the task and its duration.
The study of the proposed course orients students to the visual analytical and creative process and directs them to independently search for ideas and solutions in practical tasks. All this with the ability to draw "from memory" and "imagination" should influence the artistic thinking and formation of the aesthetic sense of the student-designer, teaches him to have practical skills in order to convey their ideas and feelings in the future.
Laboratory tasks:
1. Linear-constructive drawing of geometric bodies.
2. Still life of simple geometric bodies for side lighting (achromatic scale, grizzly bear).
3. Drawing of a still life from geometric bodies on lateral illumination.
4. Still life of complex geometric bodies for side lighting (mixed gamma, polychromy).
5. Drawing of a cascading still life of complex geometric bodies and household items for direct lighting.
6. Still life of household items for side lighting (earthy range, limited palette, polychrome).
Assessment methods and criteria: Determining the level of students' knowledge is carried out by the following methods: control of classroom and independent work of the student.
Credit is a mandatory final form of control, which allows you to assess the systematic assimilation of educational material on "Painting, sculpture" and can be reduced to the level of current forms of control. The credit score is set "automatically".
All classroom assignments must be passed on to teachers after each lesson. Classroom tasks are subject to periodic review with recording the stage of their implementation in the journal. Assessment of works by teachers conducting classes in a group takes place after the end of each task.
The maximum total score for classroom and independent (homework) tasks is 100 points.
Each work in the discipline "Drawing" and "Painting" is evaluated on a maximum of 100 points.
The calculation of the semester grade is calculated as the average score for all classroom and independent work.
