Мета вивчення дисципліни: Mastering the competencies necessary to assess the quality of medicinal substances in the performance of professional tasks of a pharmacy specialist. Acquiring a set of knowledge on the chemical structure, nomenclature, sources and methods of extraction, chemical, physical and instrumental methods of quality control of medicinal substances, the relationship "chemical structure - biological action", storage and use of APIs in medical practice. Acquiring knowledge of the main provisions of the State Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine and other analytical normative documents (AND) regarding the quality of medicinal substances. Ensuring the reasonable use of chemical, physical and instrumental methods of analysis for the identification, purity testing and quantification of medicinal substances.
Завдання: The study of the discipline involves the formation and development of students: General competencies: 1. Ability to apply knowledge in practical situations; 2. Ability to learn and master modern knowledge; 3. Ability to search, process and analyze information from various sources; 4. Responsibility for the quality of work performed. Professional competencies: 1. Ability to use a thorough knowledge of general, inorganic, analytical and physical and colloidal chemistry to the extent necessary for mastering general engineering and professionally oriented disciplines; 2. Ability to use regulatory and technical documentation necessary for the implementation of engineering activities for the implementation of engineering activities in the field of pharmacy and industrial pharmacy and the ability to draw up technical documentation in the development of pharmaceutical production project; 3. Ability to select and use appropriate equipment, tools and methods for the implementation and control of pharmaceutical production; 4. Ability to organize own work and work of subordinates.
Learning outcomes: As a result of study of discipline a student must be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes: • to know the chemical structure of medicinal substance, sources and methods of their obtaining, the regularity of the relationship between chemical structure and pharmacological properties, methods of the identification and quantitative determination, the conditions of storage and usage; • to know the main provisions of general articles of State Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine, orders and other valid normative documents of Ministry of Health of Ukraine concerning manufacturing, quality control and dispensing of medicines; • to be able to use normative, reference and scientific literature to solve professional problems.

Summary of the subject: Discipline on the chemical structure and properties of medicinal substances, which provides students with a significant amount of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in conducting quality control of substances and medicines, the relationship between the structure and properties of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). The subject matter of the discipline is knowledge about the sources and methods of obtaining medicinal substances, their physical and chemical properties, the dependence of physical, chemical and pharmacological properties on the composition and structure of drug molecules, methods of quality control of medicinal products, storage conditions and their use in medical practice.

Supplements of boron, magnesium, calcium and barium compounds. Supplements of copper, iron and argentum compounds. Methods of identification and quantitative determination, storage and usage. Organic medicines. Aliphatic compounds. Halogen hydrocarbons. Alcohols and their esters. Aldehydes and their derivatives. The salts of carboxylic acids. Urethane and ureides. Hydroaromatic compound. Properties, reactions of identification and quantification methods, storage and usage. Aromatic compounds. Phenols. Derivatives of aromatic acids. Derivatives of para-acetylbenzoic acid. Derivatives of para-acetylsalicylic acid. Derivatives of amides of sulfanilic acid. Heterocyclic compounds. Derivatives of furan, pyrazole, pyridine, pyrimidine. phenothiazine. Alkaloids of tropane, benzylisoquinoline, morphinane, purine. The definition of identity. Quantity determination. Carbohydrates and glycosides. Hormones. Steroid hormones. Androgenic hormones. Progestogenic hormones. Aromatic antibiotics. Heterocyclic antibiotics. Penicillins. Cephalosporins. Antibiotics-glycosides. Methods of analysis, storage and usage.
Assessment methods and criteria: The main methods of knowledge diagnosis are: current (PC) and semester control (SC), which is carried out from educational material, the scope of which is determined by the work program of the discipline for the semester. Current control is carried out during lectures and practical classes in order to check the level of assimilation of theoretical and practical knowledge and skills of the student. PC is conducted in the form of: written and oral control and defense of practical works. Semester control is conducted in the form of an exam. The exam is a form of SC of the results of the graduate student's study exclusively for all types of work provided for in the program of the academic discipline.
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: • written reports on laboratory work, test control - 30 points; • summary control - 70 points (control, exam): written-oral form.
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
