Pharmacology with the Basics of Pharmacokinetics

Major: Industrial Pharmacy
Code of subject: 7.226.02.O.033
Credits: 6.00
Department: Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology
Lecturer: Associate Professor Bolibrukh Liliia Dmytrivna
Semester: 5 семестр
Mode of study: денна
Мета вивчення дисципліни: The discipline "Pharmacology" is a special course taught for students majoring in 226 Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy. It aims to familiarize students with the classification of medicines taking into account their pharmacological action, clinical application, brief data on the pathogenesis of diseases for the treatment of which certain groups of medicines are used, pharmacodynamics of the main groups of medicines, their pharmacotherapeutic and side effects, as well as to prepare students for production and technological activities.
Завдання: The study of the discipline involves the formation and development of students' skills: General: 1. Ability to apply knowledge in practical situations 2. Ability to learn and master modern knowledge 3. Ability to search, process and analyze information from various sources 4. Responsibility for the quality of work performed. Professional: 1. Ability to use a thorough knowledge of general, inorganic, analytical and physical and colloidal chemistry to the extent necessary for mastering general engineering and and professionally oriented disciplines. 2. Ability to use regulatory and technical documentation necessary for implementation of engineering activities in the field of pharmacy and industrial pharmacy and ability to draw up technical documentation when developing a project pharmaceutical production. 3. Ability to select and use appropriate equipment, tools and methods for the implementation and control of pharmaceutical production. 4. Ability to organize own work and work of subordinates.
Learning outcomes: As a result of study of discipline a student must be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes: • to know the regularity of pharmacokinetics of most important for practical medicine drugs; • to know the classification, pharmacological properties, usage, mechanisms of action, routes of administration, absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of drugs, side effects, indications and contraindications for their use; • to know the pharmacokinetics of drugs to predict their effect on the human body and prevent side effects; • to be able to use regulatory, reference and scientific literature to solve professional problems.
Required prior and related subjects: Prerequisites: • Pharmaceutical Chemistry • Anatomy and Physiology • Pharmacokinetics Co-requisites: • Therapeutic Cosmetics Technology and Application • Medicinal Substances Chemistry and Technology • Pharmacotherapy
Summary of the subject: The discipline "Pharmacology" forms students' modern ideas about pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of the main groups of drugs. As a result of studying this discipline, the student acquires the relevant knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for organizing the activities of pharmaceutical industry enterprises and solving practical problems of quality assurance.
Опис: General aspects of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Regulators of afferent innervation. Regulators of the central nervous system. Narcotic and non-narcotic analgesics. Sedative drugs. Regulators of efferent innervation. Substances that stimulate and regulate the function of the cardiovascular system. Substances regulating functions of blood system. Basics of chemotherapy. Drugs affecting respiratory function. Bile means.
Assessment methods and criteria: The main methods of knowledge diagnosis are: current (PC) and semester control (SC), which is carried out from educational material, the scope of which is determined by the work program of the discipline for the semester. Current control is carried out during lectures and practical classes in order to check the level of assimilation of theoretical and practical knowledge and skills of the student. PC is conducted in the form of: written and oral control and defense of practical works. Semester control is conducted in the form of an exam. The exam is a form of SC of the results of the graduate student's study exclusively for all types of work provided for in the program of the academic discipline.
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: • written reports from laboratory work, oral questioning, practical work, control work - 40 points; • final control - 60 points (control, exam): written-oral form.
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, and reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, a violation of the sequence of presentation, or weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) are awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, and ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
