Learning outcomes: PH1. to know and understand the nature, sources and directions of the evolution of international relations, international politics, the foreign policy of states, the state of theoretical studies of international relations and world politics; the ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of highly specialized (political, legal, security, social, communication, etc.) aspects of the development of the modern system of international relations and Ukraine's place in it; RN 7. evaluate and analyze international and foreign policy problems and situations, propose approaches to solving such problems; RN 16. to know and understand highly specialized (political, legal, security, social, communication, etc.) aspects of the development of the modern system of international relations and Ukraine's place in it. RN 17. to systematically think and creatively interpret events at the global, regional and local levels, taking into account the historical prerequisites of their emergence and development, the peculiarities of Ukraine's interaction with other countries of the world; Kom 2. the ability to defend a patriotic statesman's position regarding the place of Ukraine in the system of international relations in communications; Kom 3. the ability to present and discuss the obtained results and transfer the acquired knowledge. AiV 1. ability to adapt to new conditions and make appropriate decisions; AiV 2. the ability to realize the need for lifelong learning in order to deepen acquired and acquire new professional knowledge; AiV 3. the ability to take responsibility for the work performed, to make decisions independently, to achieve the set goal in compliance with the requirements of professional ethics.
Required prior and related subjects: Prerequisite: The European Union in International relations, International Relations Theory, Foundations of Geopolitics and Geostrategy. Co-requisite: International and European Security, Current Problems of Ukraine's Foreign Policy and International Relations.
Summary of the subject: The nature and definition of regional science. The concept of the region, area, space and their classification. Regional policy: characteristics, peculiarities and componential parts. Regionalization and its types. The concept of the regional economy. Theories of regional development. Regionalization as the trend of world development. Regionalization as a consequence / obstacle for globalization. Modern regional organizations. Factors influencing the processes of globalization and regionalization. The history of European integration. The functioning of a common policy in the field of economic relations. Legal status of the EU as international organization. Main bodies of European security - the OSCE, NATO, Council of Europe. Principles of development the relations between NATO and the EU. The idea of the «global partnership». Human rights and the EU. Ukraine and the EU. Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation (CIS). Institutional development - regional integration structures - the CIS, SCO, GUAM, BSEC, EurAsEC, EEA. Trends and processes in international relations in the new geopolitical and geo-economic region. Agreement on partnership and cooperation between Ukraine and the EU (1997). Goals and principles of Russian Federation and Belarus. Creation of the CSTO as a military and political association. Prerequisites for regional integration in Central Asia. Creation of a regional collective security of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The development of national economies in Central Asian states. Position of Central Asia in the world. New regional integration initiatives of the CAR. Development of corporate policy in Central Asia. Changes of the geopolitical configuration in the region (area of increased confrontation, geostrategic and geo-economic importance of the territory). Problems of Near and Middle East Muslim states in the XXI century. Adaptation of Near and Middle East countries to the conditions of post-industrial stage of development and globalization processes. Greater Middle East and North African countries and position of the Big Eight. The current experience of modernization in Arab countries. Islamism as a global phenomenon. International terrorism, demographic problems, shortage of water resources. Asia-Pacific region in the processes of globalization. Chinese vision of globalization. The Japanese version of Westernization. The "Great East Asia" project. Globalization and medium and small countries. The ASEAN activities within the framework of economic cooperation. Regional and economic integration. Ensuring food and energy security in the APEC region. Establishing of political federation in Central America. Strengthening of regional, interregional and transcontinental cooperation. Modernization of Brazilian economy and dominance of the United States. Economic cooperation between Latin American and the Caribbean countries. Establishing of CACM Custom Union. The idea of spiritual rebirth of Africa. National liberation movements of African nations after World War II. The idea of African Unity in the 1960s. Establishing of international political and economic organizations - the African Union and Casablanca Group. Lagos Plan of Action and creating of the African Economic Community. The Monrovia strategy implementation plan based on the principles of collective self-reliance. Establishment and functioning of organizations coordinating economic development – ECOWAS, SADC, PTA, COMESA).
Assessment methods and criteria: DESCRIPTION OF METHODS FOR ASSESSING THE LEVEL OF LEARNING OUTCOMES Oral (individual and face-to-face) and written (written answers to questions, solving tasks, etc.) surveys according to the plan of practical classes, observation of educational and cognitive activities, evaluation of activity, submitted proposals, original solutions, clarifications and definitions, writing and defending essays, presentations , discussion of problematic tasks, exam (three-level testing).
