Learning outcomes: 1. Ability to demonstrate basic skills in Physics. 2. Ability to use known skills in solving qualitative and quantitative exercises in Physics. 3. Ability to take measurements of physical quantities, their calculation, finding errors of measurement. 4. Ability to use and integrate knowledge and understanding of basic and professional disciplines. 5. Ability to understand the need of education throughout life with the aim of deepening the acquired and acquiring new professional skills.
Required prior and related subjects: 1. Physics course for secondary school. 2. Higher mathematics. 3. Differential equations. 4. The theory of electric and magnetic circuits. 5. Computer Electronics. 6. Probability theory and mathematical statistics.
Summary of the subject: Type of discipline: normative. Cycle: mathematical and natural science training. Year of study: 1 course. Term: 1 term. Credits: 5. Forms of study for which discipline is read: full-time. Contents of the course: Magnetism. Physics of oscillations and waves. Quantum physics. Elements of nuclear physics. Solid state physics. Planned learning activities: 30 hours of lectures, 30 hours of laboratory work, 15 hours of practical training, 75 hours of individual work; summary – 150 hours. Teaching methods: verbal (lecture, story, discussion, explanation), practical (laboratory work, calculation and graphic tasks), visual methods (illustration, demonstration).
Assessment methods and criteria: In the course of teaching the discipline used: entering control; current control (control at lectures, at laboratory and practical classes, after educational hours, at consultations); borderline (thematic) control; final control (exam). Diagnosis of students' knowledge and skills is realized through: testing students; performing lab work tasks and creative additional tasks; implementation of calculation and graphic tasks, individual and control works etc. Evaluation criteria: current control – 40 points; final control – 60 points. Current control: laboratory work – 20 points; individual works (2 works) – 10 points; calculation and graphic task – 10 points. Final control: written component – 50 points; verbal component – 10 points.
