Learning outcomes: Program competencies: • acquisition of theoretical skills of studying the state, accounting and planning of rational use of natural resources of the city. • formation of knowledge to determine the geographical, geophysical, climatic, man-made factors influencing the habitat of the human population in order to preserve and restore human adaptation mechanisms in the context of man-made progress. • knowledge of laws, rules and conceptual principles of sustainable development and global environmental management. Program results: • be able to use techniques and methods to identify major environmental problems that are a consequence of urbanization; know the principles of landscaping, phytomelioration and recreation, especially the treatment of natural resources of the city, including water supply.
Required prior and related subjects: • Meteorology and climatology; • Classical ecology; • Hydrology.
Summary of the subject: Urbanization. The dynamics of urbanization. The reasons for the rapid growth of cities. Categories cities on environmental performance. Environmental aspects of urban development. The impact of hazardous physical factors on city residents. Artificial night lighting in cities. The impact of electromagnetic radiation on residents. Features and methods of disposal of urban wastes.
Assessment methods and criteria: • Current control, oral examination (30%); • final control (control measure, exam), written-oral form (70%).
