Learning outcomes: Program competencies: • acquisition of skills in the use of information and communication technologies; • Acquisition of computer modeling skills and compilation of spatial ecological maps, in particular according to the MapInfo program. Program results: • be able to use software, GIS technologies and Internet resources for information support of environmental research. Learning outcomes: • development of methods for collecting of spatial information and processing statistical data for comprehensive evaluation of environmental pollution; • mastering the methods of creation of databases of received spatial information.
Required prior and related subjects: • Meteorology and climatology, • Informatics, • Geology and basics of geomorphology; • Landscape ecology and Soil science.
Summary of the subject: GIS technologies in the modern world. The functions and scope of application of GIS technologies. Models and functioning of databases with received spatial information. Technologies of introduction of spatial data. Spatial information in the GIS. A vector representation of metric data. Cartographic algebra. Surface modeling and their evaluation.
Assessment methods and criteria: • Tutorial Exercises, Oral presentations (30%) • Final Examination (control measure, differentiated test), writing (70%)
