Мета вивчення дисципліни: The purpose of the master's thesis defense is to demonstrate by the student the skills acquired during the training to develop scientifically sound proposals aimed at solving current research problems in the functioning of institutions on the basis of independent scientific, theoretical, analytical and practical research of organizational, managerial, socio-economic problems, processes, activities of relevant institutions.
Завдання: Ability to think abstractly, analyze and synthesize. Ability to evaluate and ensure the quality of work performed. Ability to generate new ideas (creativity). Ability to use modern theories, methodologies and methods of social and other sciences in relation to the tasks of basic and applied research in the field of social security. Ability to plan and conduct social research to identify and analyze socially significant problems and factors of achieving social well-being of different groups of the population. Ability to communicate knowledge and own conclusions to specialists and non-specialists. Ability to optimize management decision-making processes in addressing issues of socio-economic assistance to vulnerable groups of the population. Ability to demonstrate professional identity and act in accordance with the values of a social worker.
Learning outcomes: Use modern theories, methodology and methods of social and other sciences in relation to the tasks of basic and applied research in the field of social protection. Critically evaluate the results of scientific research and various sources of knowledge on social security, formulate conclusions and recommendations for its implementation. To apply foreign sources in the performance of research and applied activities, to express themselves in a foreign language, both orally and in writing. Design a theoretical model of work with social security objects within social services, organizations, institutions. Apply general and specialized software to solve professional problems and conduct research. Plan and conduct research in the social welfare system and present its results. Develop and test social projects and technologies.

Summary of the subject: The defense of the master's qualification work is the final stage of educational and scientific training of future specialists for practical activities in the social sphere within the framework of the normative and variable components of the educational program "Management of Social Institutions" for masters in the field of knowledge 23 "Social Work", specialty 232 "Social Security". The master's qualification work determines the general educational and professional maturity of the graduate, his scientific and special training, the ability to think logically and creatively apply the acquired knowledge in solving practical problems, the level of readiness for independent work in social institutions, and also gives the right to obtain a master's degree in social security and is a kind of report for the entire period of study at Lviv Polytechnic National University.
Опис: In a master's qualification work, as in a theoretical and applied research, a characterization of an actual organizational, managerial, socio-economic, social problem is given on the basis of its analysis on the example of the functioning of a specific institution where the student has been practicing, on the basis of which possible options for its practical solution are substantiated.
Assessment methods and criteria: The student briefly reports to the committee on the essence of the research, illustrating the report with reference to visual materials. Visual materials should consistently illustrate the report of the student and ensure the completeness of coverage of all provisions submitted for defense. After the report of the student, the Secretary of the EC reads out the review of the master's qualification work, and the student has the opportunity to respond to all the comments of the reviewer. During the defense of the master's qualification work, members of the EC, teachers, and specialists present at the defense may ask the student questions about the content of the work. The answers of the student must be specific, reasoned and brief. After the student answers the questions, the feedback of the supervisor of the completed master's qualification work is announced. The defense procedure is recorded by the secretary of the commission. After the defense, the final meeting of the EC is held, which evaluates the master's qualification work of each student (on a 100-point scale). Based on the results of the defense of the master's qualification work at a closed meeting, the EC decides on the assessment of the defense and work (taking into account the feedback of the supervisor, reviewer, the content of the report, answers to questions), on the assignment of the appropriate qualification to the specialist and on the issuance of a state diploma.
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: The value of the master's thesis submitted for defense is determined on the basis of: -relevance of the content of the study of the problem raised; -compliance with the current state and prospects for the development of management in social institutions; -execution of a study of specific problems commissioned by the heads of social institutions; -the possibility of introducing the results of the study into the theory and practice of management and administration of social institutions.
