Мета вивчення дисципліни: The purpose of studying the academic discipline is to provide students with basic knowledge, understanding and competences in cytology and cell physiology, namely, structural organization of eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells, molecular components and cell metabolism, cell life cycle and cell division.
Завдання: GK01. Ability to apply knowledge in practical situations SK02. Ability to use a thorough knowledge of chemistry and biology to the extent necessary to achieve other outcomes of the educational program. SK04. Ability to work with biological agents used in biotechnological processes (microorganisms, fungi, plants, animals; viruses; individual components). SC15. Ability to comply with biosafety, biosecurity and bioethics requirements.
Learning outcomes: PRL07. Be able to apply knowledge of the composition and structure of cells of various biological agents to determine optimal cultivation conditions and the potential of using the studied cells in biotechnology. PRL10. To be able to conduct experimental studies with the aim of determining the influence of physico-chemical and biological factors of the external environment on the vital activity of the cells of living organisms. A&R ability to realize the need for lifelong learning in order to deepen the acquired and acquire new professional knowledge. COM2. The ability to use a variety of methods, including modern information technologies, for effective communication at the professional and social levels.

Summary of the subject: The discipline "Cell Biology " forms in students modern phenomena about the basics of cytology and cell physiology, which involves the study of the structural structure and vital activity of the cell, as the smallest elementary unit of a living thing, which is characterized by reproduction, metabolism, reactivity, variability, and also introduces students to the main methods of research cell ultrastructure, identification of chemical components and cell organelles, methods of studying living cells. As a result of studying this discipline, the student acquires the ability to justify the dependence of the functional state of the cell on the structural features of the structure of cell organelles and acquires the appropriate skills and competences necessary for mastering knowledge from further specialized disciplines, which will allow them to be successfully used in future professional activities in the field of biotechnology and bioengineering.
Опис: Basic concepts and terminology of Cytology. Methods of studying cells. Morphophysiological features of cells of different cell types. Chemical organization of cells. Common characteristics of cell structure. Plans of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell structure. Outside cell membrane structures. The biological membrane. Structure and functions of cytoplasm. Single-membrane organelles of the cell; the relationship of single-membrane organelles in the cell. Double-membrane organelles of the cell; structure and function of a nucleus; protein biosynthesis. Non-membrane organelles. Intracellular inclusions. The cytoskeleton. The cell metabolism. The cell reproduction. The phenomenon of apoptosis.
Assessment methods and criteria: The main methods of knowledge diagnosis are current and semester control, which is carried out on the basis of educational material, the scope of which is determined by the work program of the discipline for the semester. Current control is carried out in the form of: written and oral express control and evaluation of the student's work in laboratory classes. Semester control is conducted in the form of an exam.
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: Current control - 40 points: - written-oral express control - 20 points - reports of laboratory work - 20 points Examination control covers a written (50 points) and oral (10 points) component.
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
