Basics of Ergonomics

Major: Environment Design
Code of subject: 6.022.03.O.18
Credits: 3.00
Department: Architectural Design
Lecturer: doctor of architecture, docent Yurii Rochniak, Phd in the field of architecture, docent Oleksandra Dyda
Semester: 3 семестр
Mode of study: денна
Learning outcomes: As a result of training, the student must be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes: 1. Understand the role of ergonomics in the design of interior elements, as one of the fundamental sciences in the formation of living and working space, 2. Use ergonomic principles in the design of the subject environment 3. Know the basic concepts of ergonomics and physical parameters of the human body and be able to adapt to them designed. 4. Have professional terminology.
Required prior and related subjects: Previous academic disciplines (prerequisites): - Composition and shaping in design. - Basics of design and computer graphics. Related subjects (co-requisites): - Fundamentals of subject environment design.
Summary of the subject: The course "Fundamentals of Ergonomics", which is offered to students and teachers of higher education institutions of III and IV levels of accreditation of basic areas "Design", allows you to master modern methodological and theoretical tools for understanding spatial ergonomic design solutions. The discipline is designed to train a modern highly qualified specialist in the field of design. The course is designed for one semester of study and covers 90 hours. and structurally includes two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part of the course considers the basic concepts of ergonomics, characteristics of the human body and features of human perception and use of the environment, as well as the specifics of the use of ergonomics in the design of the subject environment. In the practical part of the course the analysis, systematization of research material is carried out. While working on practical classes, students have the opportunity to get acquainted with the practical aspects of applying the acquired theoretical knowledge. The basic concepts of ergonomics and methods of analysis of spatial situations are stated in the discipline in a logical sequence. The course is aimed at studying ergonomic design solutions, identifying problems and inconsistencies in the organization of space and modern approaches to solving them. The content consistently reveals the basic themes of the discipline. All sections are logically interconnected. Practical tasks allow to better understand the methodology of ergonomic approach in the design of subject-spatial environment and to understand the importance of using theoretical knowledge and a systematic approach during practical design. The discipline combines clarity of material coverage with a variety of applications. This makes the discipline a relevant basis for practical project activities.
Assessment methods and criteria: Current control: conducting a sample oral interview in lectures and practical classes, assessment of activity in classes, checking practical tasks, Assessment is the sum of points scored by the student for current work during the semester. Final control: test control in VNS NULP, differentiated test. During the semester, the student can score 40 points for four tasks and 60 points for the final control for passing test questions at the VNS of Lviv Polytechnic and composing an oral component. The sum of grades received by the student for the specified types of completed academic work is the final semester grade.
