Learning outcomes: • understanding causes of power quality deterioration and EMC problems in power grids; • knowledge about the current state of quality problems in the power grids of Ukraine; • basic definitions and methods of calculating power quality indices; • knowledge of the modern methods of power quality concerns solving; • ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of scientific and mathematical principles for solving engineering problems and perform research related to electromagnetic compatibility problems in electrical networks.

Summary of the subject: Characteristics of the main types of electromagnetic disturbances in electrical networks. Power quality terms. Electromagnetic compatibility in electrical networks. Causes of deterioration of power quality in electrical networks. Economic aspects of power quality. Regulations. Principles of analysis and calculation of power quality indices in electrical networks. Means for improvement of power quality. Monitoring and measurement of power quality indices.
Assessment methods and criteria: • written reports on laboratory, course work, oral questioning (30%) • final control - exam: written and oral form (70%)
