Learning outcomes: As a result of studying the discipline, the student must be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes: - Analyze the main provisions of bioconversion processes and apply them to the development of biotechnologies for processing organic waste into biofuels and bio-utilization of components of industrial waste; - Ability to use a variety of methods, including modern information technology, for effective communication at the professional and social levels; - Ability to adapt to new situations and make appropriate decisions; - Ability to demonstrate understanding of basic environmental principles, labor protection and safety and their application. Knowledge to apply the provisions of basic theories and concepts in the field of technological bioenergy and the basic principles of regulation of microorganism metabolism for the development of bioconversion of organic waste into biofuels and bio-utilization of industrial waste components.
Required prior and related subjects: Previous disciplines: • Industrial biotechnology; • Biotechnology of immunosuppressants and probiotics; • Biomonitoring, biosafety, biosecurity and eco-expertise. Related and following: academic disciplines Modern application of biotechnological methods Biotechnology of enzyme preparations Technology of biologically active additives
Summary of the subject: Subject and tasks of the discipline. Basic terms and concepts of the course. Alternative biotechnological methods in Ukraine. Application of methods based on bioconversion. Bioconversion of waste and biopreservation of vegetable raw materials. Biocomposting of organic residues by oxygen-free fermentation. Prospects for bioenergy in Ukraine. Natural bioconversion of substances, environmental pollutants. The course "Biotechnology of bioactive substances and bioconversion" forms in students modern ideas about waste-free technologies, recycling methods based on bioconversion. This knowledge gives students the opportunity to successfully master the skills of assessing the technical and environmental-economic indicators of eco-biotechnological processes, opens up prospects for the use of modern research and valuable social developments. Lectures, laboratory classes and individual tasks for independent work are used to achieve the goals of joint and individual activities of students in mastering theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Assessment methods and criteria: Written and oral control, independent work ¬ - 60 points Defense of laboratory works - 40 points
