Learning outcomes: • to know properties of nanomaterials, nano-objects interactions within a nanosystem and an environment; • to know methods of synthesis and analysis of polymers that may be carriers of drug substances and chemically active surface nanoparticles; • to be able to choose a method for solving a specific problem in the development of biomedical devices with using nanostructures; correctly use the equipment and devices; to reproduce a description of the methodology, to assess obtained results.
Required prior and related subjects: Prerequisites: • General biotechnology, • Foundations of enzymology and immobilization • Bioengineering (cell and genetic). Co-requisites; • Modern application of biotechnological methods (biotechnology of food industries) • Modern application of biotechnology methods (industrial biotechnology)
Summary of the subject: Nanostructures, objects, materials and technologies; nanopharmacology and nanobiotechnology. Medical systems of prolonged and target delivery, carriers of different generations. Polymers as excipients and drugs. Recombinant DNA technology. Application of nanomaterials in proteomics and genomics.
Assessment methods and criteria: • written reports from laboratory work – 10 points, practical work and oral questioning – 10 points, individual work – 20 points; • final control (exam) – 60 points (written-oral test)
