Learning outcomes: To know the basic directions of creation of preparations for crop and livestock, traditional, such as bacterial fertilizers, entomopathogenic preparations, vaccines and serums; as well as prospects for the development and improvement of drugs for the diagnosis and prevention of infectious diseases of plants and animals and the use of modern biotechnologies such as cellular and genetic engineering, the creation of new varieties of plants and animal breeds. reasonably be able to choose the correct method to solve a particular problem, qualified using biotechnology laboratory equipment and instruments, to reproduce method of the description, conduct metrological estimation accuracy and correctness of the obtained results, apply knowledge of the microbiological processes to produce biotechnological substances

Summary of the subject: Biotechnology in plant growing. Biotechnology in animal husbandry. Technology for the production of bacterial fertilizers, growth regulators and entomopathogenic drugs, the ability to control the process of nitrogen fixation. Genetic engineering vaccines, serums, monoclonal antibodies for the prophylaxis, diagnosis and therapy of major diseases in livestock breeding. Biotechnological methods of processing agricultural, industrial and household wastes, purification and use of sewage for the production of biogas and fertilizers.
Assessment methods and criteria: • written reports on laboratory work, design, multimedia presentations, oral examination (40%) • final control (60% control measure, exam), written-oral form (60%)
