Learning outcomes: - to know the main characteristics of Earth's gravitational field and their importance for geodesy, the methods and apparatus for relative and absolute measurements on land, sea and air; - to able to perform basic research of gravimetric instruments, measuring acceleration of gravity and their gradients during creating gravimetric reference networks, regional and detailed gravity surveys; - conduct processing the results of gravimetric measurement, including assembly gravity maps; - to understand the main trends and prospects of practical application the geodetic gravimetry.
Required prior and related subjects: Higher mathematics Physics MOHV Higher geodesy
Summary of the subject: The main stages of historical development the gravimetry. Methods of measuring the acceleration of gravity. The gravitational field of the Earth and its characteristics. Pendulum and ballistic methods and absolute measurements of the acceleration of gravity. Pendulum and statistical methods for measuring the relative acceleration of gravity. Measurement the second potential acceleration of gravity. Reference and standard gravimetric networks. Methods of gravimetric networks adjustment and topographic and geodesic providing the gravimetric survey. The calculation the different gravimetric anomalies. Drafting and accuracy of construction the gravimetric maps. The current state gravimetric studying the Earth.
Assessment methods and criteria: • written reports by laboratory work, oral examination, test (30%); • final control (70 %, control measure, exam), written-oral form (70%).
