Learning outcomes: • formulate tasks for solving problem situations in professional and / or academic activities; • determine indicators of natural and man-made conditions of the territory, object, working zone, as well as construction materials and quality of finished products using specialized tools, devices and equipment in accordance with the standards and requirements of the metrological service of Ukraine.
Required prior and related subjects: • High Mathematics (linear algebra, analytic geometry, mathematical analysis, derivatives and integrals of functions); • Physics (mechanics); • Theoretical mechanics (statics, kinematics, dynamics).
Summary of the subject: General, hypotheses and concepts of strength of materials. Tension and compression of rods. Calculation of the strength by the method of allowable stress. Theory of stress state. Criteria of strength. Geometric characteristics of cross sections of a rod. Bending of beams. Determination of the displacement of bending the beams. Net shift. Torsion of rods. The theoretical basis for calculating the stability of compressed rods.
Assessment methods and criteria: • reports of laboratory work, oral examination, settlement and graphic works (40%); • final control (exam): written and oral form (60%).
