Learning outcomes: 1. To identify the causal links between the development of society and the manifestations of socio-economic problems in different categories of the population; 2. Apply methods of collecting information: document analysis, surveys and observations; 3. Ability to apply the statistical, methodological and regulatory framework of the social protection system; 4. To show readiness for interaction with colleagues on work, to make administrative decisions in the organization of work of executors 5. Identify social problems and needs and the causes of their occurrence, development trends, consequences, social status of certain categories of the population 6. Analyze the effectiveness of socio-economic support of the population and make appropriate adjustments within the competence; 7. Determine the content of cooperation with organizations and institutions in order to involve them in social protection; 8. Explain current processes in the social sphere and social security

Summary of the subject: The subject of sociology. Methodology and methods of sociological research. The main stages of development of sociological thought. Formation and development of sociology in Ukraine. Society as a system. Social change and development of society. Personality in the system of social ties. Social structure of society. Social stratification. Ethnonational structure of society. The process and types of social interaction. Social control and deviant behavior. Social institutions. Social organizations. Culture and society.
Assessment methods and criteria: - oral interviews, participation in discussions and interactive exercises, presentation of the study project (40%) - final control test, written form (60%)
