Learning outcomes: know: general patterns of world economic development and their impact on national economies; theories of development of national economies, their essence, types and evolution; models of economic development of the world and determinants of their competitiveness; approaches to assessing the macroeconomic performance of national economies in order to further forecast them; key areas of economic policy of foreign governments; be able to: identify the country's place in the system of international economic relations, taking into account the general patterns and trends of development; analyze the economic potential of the country and the factors that determine it; to study the institutional and sectoral structure of the national; evaluate macroeconomic performance; to form recommendations for increasing the competitiveness of the national economy. KN 2 Knowledge of the laws of functioning and development in the international scale of the market system of organization of economic life. KN 3 Knowledge of trends in international financial markets and financial mechanisms that serve the functioning of the international economy. KN 7 Knowledge of the peculiarities of tariff regulation of international trade, modern international debt policy. KN 11 Knowledge of the main categories, principles and functions of international trade, as well as forms of international e-commerce. KN 13 Knowledge of the peculiarities of the international economic and trade policy of the EU and the ability to take them into account when developing a strategy for cooperation between Ukraine and the EU. KN 14 Possession of sufficient knowledge of the basic theories and models of foreign direct investment and TNCs, features of production, financial activities of TNCs, personnel management of TNCs. SK 1 Apply the acquired knowledge and understanding to identify, formulate and solve problems of international economic relations. SK 3 Ability to analyze the objective preconditions for the emergence and content of global problems, their classification, the main directions and role of international organizations in solving global problems, the activities of transnational corporations. SK 5 Analyze the structure of the global economy according to various criteria of economic development. SK 6 Ability to analyze the international movement of capital and its main forms, direct and portfolio foreign investment.
Required prior and related subjects: -prerequisite: International Economics, international economic activity of Ukraine. . -co-requisite: International monetary and financial relations,International organizations and transnational corporations.
Summary of the subject: National economies in the world economy homeholding system. The variability models of economic development of the world. The determinants of leading countries economic success. The US and Canada economy. The economy of the European Union. The Japanese economy. Features of economic development of new industrial countries. The economy of Central and Eastern Europe. The economy of Russia. The economy of developing countries. The economy of Central Asia. China's economy. The economy of the Middle East. Strategic trade and economic partners of Ukraine.
Assessment methods and criteria: - Current control (30%): written reports of individual work, oral questioning, work in virtual Lviv Polytechnik learning environment, presentations - Final control (70%): semester control (written-50% and oral-20% component)
