Learning outcomes: As a result of module studying a student has to: • know the principles of functioning, circuitry and designs of telecommunication terminals; • know technologies and methods of installation of terminal facilities at development and realization of projects of the analog and digital infocommunication systems; • be able to use the acquired knowledge in development and use of hardware and software in infocommunication networks based on the latest technologies and computer technique; • understand the key performance criteria for the optimal selection and installation of software and hardware of modern technical means.

Summary of the subject: Fundamentals of the theory of wire communication. Notion about codes used in telegraphy. Types of modulation. The functions of error correction and data compression. Fax : principle of operation and design features. The basic concept of switching in telecommunications. Characteristics of mini - Automatic Switching Center. Video conferencing equipment. Computer telephony using CTI boards.Types of mobile communication systems and services. Trunking systems and terminal communication equipment. Mobile terminals and communication systems.
