Department: Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology
Lecturer: ass. professor Marintsova Nataliya Henadiivna.
Semester: 3 семестр
Mode of study: денна
Мета вивчення дисципліни: The discipline "Biochemistry" is a special course for students studying in the basic direction 162 "Biotechnologies and bioengineering" and its purpose is to acquaint students with the nature of substances from which a living organism is built, as well as the sequence and relationship of chemical transformations and interactions that are characteristic for the living and distinguish it from the non-living and prepare specialists for work at biochemical and pharmaceutical enterprises.
Завдання: Ability to use professional knowledge and practical skills to solve specific tasks in the field of biotechnology and bioengineering. professional competences: . Ability to use knowledge of biochemical processes in the cell and apply them to achieve other results of the educational program. The ability to use knowledge of the structural organization of the cell, methods of its research. The ability to use knowledge about the structural and functional features of the structure of cells, tissues, organs and organ systems of the human body and cellular and genetic manipulations. Ability to apply knowledge of human anatomy and physiology for the development of health biocorrectors and information about the interdependence between the anatomical structure and physiological function of the organs of the human body in the phylogenetic and ontogenetic aspects.
Learning outcomes: The ability to solve complex specialized tasks and practical problems characterized by the complexity and uncertainty of conditions in biotechnology and bioengineering, or in the learning process that involves the application of theories and methods of biotechnology and bioengineering. To be able to carry out qualitative and quantitative analysis of substances of inorganic, organic and biological origin, using appropriate chemical methods. Be able to determine and analyze the main physicochemical properties of organic compounds that are part of biological agents (proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids). Use knowledge about the structure of macromolecules in cell organelles to create biological preparations and study the mechanism of metabolic processes in the body and determine the content of protein, carbohydrate and lipid components. The ability to take responsibility for the work performed, to make decisions independently, to achieve the set goal in compliance with the requirements of professional ethics.
Required prior and related subjects: Prerequisites: Biology of cells, Hygiene and diagnosis of a man Co-requisites: General Microbiology and Virology, Molecular bioligy
Summary of the subject: The purpose of this discipline is to form students a holistic view of the structure, chemical properties and biological role of organic compounds that participate in the processes of human metabolism: low molecular weight bioregulators (vitamins, hormones, other natural and synthetic biologically active compounds, including some drugs and toxic compounds ) and biopolymers (carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids).
Опис: The chemical composition and structure of cell walls. The cell membranes. The structure of amino acids. Proteins, structure of proteins. Classification of proteins. Classification of lipids. Fatty acids. The functions of lipids. Classification of carbohydrates. The biological function of carbohydrates. Nucleosides, nucleotides and nucleic acids. The structure of nucleic acids. Classification and nomenclature of enzymes. The specificity of enzymes. Regulation of enzymes action. Fat-soluble and water-soluble vitamins, their role in living organisms. Hormones of humans and animals.
Assessment methods and criteria: The main methods of knowledge diagnosis are: current (PC) and semester control (SC), which is carried out from educational material, the scope of which is determined by the work program of the discipline for the semester. Current control is carried out during lectures and laboratory classes in order to check the level of assimilation of theoretical and practical knowledge and skills of the student. PC is conducted in the form of: written express control (individual tasks) and defense of laboratory work. Semester control is conducted in the form of an exam (EC). The exam is a form of SC of the results of the student's studies in the academic discipline for the semester.
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: • Written reports on laboratory works, two individual tasks – 30 points; • Summary control - 70 points ( control, exam): written-oral form.
