Мета вивчення дисципліни: The purpose of studying the discipline "Medical Devices of Electromagnetic Radiation" is to deepen students' knowledge of the principles, devices and applications of electromagnetic radiation, to master the theoretical and practical aspects of the use of electromagnetic radiation for medical purposes.
Завдання: Special (professional, subject) competencies: SC9. Ability to determine and evaluate the characteristics and parameters of electronic materials, analog and digital electronic devices for the design of microprocessor and electronic systems, functional, quantum and laser electronics devices. Professional competencies of the professional direction: PCC2.4. Ability to use methods of testing medical devices and systems, calculations of the main components of electronic and microprocessor-based systems for medical purposes. Ability to provide technical control of radiological and electromagnetic effects and radiation safety of medical procedures.
Learning outcomes: Program learning outcomes: Р1. Describe the principle of operation using scientific concepts, theories and methods and verify the results in the design and application of electronics instruments, devices and systems. Р4. Evaluate the characteristics and parameters of electronic materials, understand the basics of solid-state electronics, electrical engineering, analog and digital circuitry, converter and microprocessor technology. Р6. To apply experimental skills (knowledge of experimental methods and experimental procedures) to test hypotheses and study electronics phenomena, to be able to use standard equipment, plan, draw up schemes; analyze, model and critically evaluate the results obtained. Р9. To design complex real-time systems and means of collecting and processing information, consistent with the specified information and software tools by using software for embedded systems based on microcontrollers. Р10. Develop technical means for building and diagnosing the technical condition of electronic devices and systems, organize and carry out scheduled and unscheduled repairs, adjustment and re-adjustment of electronic equipment in accordance with current production requirements Р16. Apply an understanding of the theory of stochastic processes, methods of statistical processing and data analysis in solving professional problems. Р17. Demonstrate skills in conducting experimental research related to professional activities; improve measurement techniques; monitor the reliability of the results; systematize and analyze data obtained experimentally. Р18. To apply methods of mathematical modeling and optimization of electronic systems for the development of automated and robotic production complexes.
Required prior and related subjects: Prerequisites: Medical materials science. Co-requisites: Expert systems in medicine. Biomedical devices and systems. Lasers in biomedical engineering.
Summary of the subject: The discipline "Medical Devices of Electromagnetic Radiation" is devoted to the study of modern technologies and devices used in medical practice for diagnosis and treatment with electromagnetic radiation. Students learn about the physical principles of electromagnetic radiation, its effects on the human body and methods of use in medical devices.
Опис: INTRODUCTION TO ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION: Overview of the physical basis of the electromagnetic spectrum. Interaction of electromagnetic radiation with human tissues. X-RAY DEVICES: The principle of operation of X-ray and radiographic devices. Technical characteristics and features of their use in diagnosis and treatment. MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI): Fundamentals of magnetic resonance nuclear spectroscopy. The principle of MRI and its clinical applications. ULTRASOUND DIAGNOSTICS: Physical basis of ultrasound diagnostics. Technical characteristics of ultrasound scanners and their application in medicine. ELECTROMAGNETIC SAFETY AND REGULATION: International standards and recommendations for electromagnetic radiation safety. Legislative aspects and local regulations on the use of medical devices. INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES IN ELECTROMAGNETIC MEDICINE: The latest developments and prospects for the use of electromagnetic radiation in medical practice. The role of scientific research in the improvement of medical devices.
Assessment methods and criteria: Current control: tests, laboratory and practical work, individual homework. Final control: differentiated credit.
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: Distribution of points on a 100-point scale. Current control: laboratory classes - 20 points; practical classes - 20 points; control work - 60 points.
Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
