Learning outcomes: PH01. To know and understand the nature of international relations and regional development, evolution, the state of theoretical research of international relations and world politics, as well as the nature and sources of state policy in the international arena and the activities of other participants of international relations. PH02. To know and understand the nature and dynamics of international security, understanding of the peculiarities of its provision at the global, regional and national levels, knowledge of the nature and approaches to resolving international and international conflicts. PH04. To know the principles, mechanisms and processes of ensuring the foreign policy of states, the interaction between foreign and domestic policy, the definition and implementation in the international arena of national interests of states, the process of formation and implementation of foreign policy decisions. РН06. To know the nature and character of interactions of individual countries and regions at the global, regional and local levels. PH11. Carry out an applied analysis of international relations, foreign policy of Ukraine and other states, international processes and the international situation in accordance with the objectives, prepare information and analytical documents. PH15. Understand and apply current legislation, international regulations and agreements, reference materials, current standards and specifications, etc. to solve complex specialized problems of international relations, public communications and regional studies. PH16. Understand and defend the national interests of Ukraine in international activities. РНВБ 1.1 To know and understand the nature, dynamics of international processes in specific areas of international relations, trends in their development. РНВБ 1.2 Carry out a description and analysis of processes, specific situations in the field of international relations and foreign policy through the prism of historical and geopolitical approaches. РНВБ 1.4 Investigate and analyze social, legal, cultural, economic factors influencing political decision-making at the domestic and international levels. РНВБ 1.5 Develop mechanisms for solving current problems and tasks in the field of international relations and foreign policy.

Summary of the subject: The main trends of international relations. Globalization and its features. Political system: essence, structure and functions. Types and basic models of political systems. Political parties as the part of the political system. Typology of political parties. Classification of party systems in the modern world. The main electoral systems of foreign countries. The state as an institution of political system: essence, characteristics, functions and structure. State’s form. State-territorial structure. Forms of government. Monarchical and republican form of government. Democracy and democratic political regimes. Main features and types of the totalitarian regime. The essence and features of authoritarianism. Institute of state’s head. Peculiarities of the functioning of governments of the world’s states. Parliamentarism and functioning of representative power: international experience. Comparative analysis of the judicial authorities of foreign countries. Models of municipal self-government: world experience.
Assessment methods and criteria: • Current control: (40%): recitation, speeches during practical classes. • Final control: (60%): exam (tests and theoretical questions).
