Мета вивчення дисципліни: This course aims to provide students with an understanding of the basic principles of operation of terminal equipment used in modern telecommunications systems and networks, and to develop practical skills in working with it. The course will cover both traditional terminal equipment - telephones and modems - as well as equipment that has recently appeared in telecommunications networks - ADSL modems and mobile terminals.

Use knowledge and skills to calculate, research, select, implement, repair, and design telecommunication and radio engineering systems and their components.

Demonstrate knowledge of analog signaling types. Demonstrate knowledge of the structure and operating principles of modems and ADSL modems. Demonstrate knowledge of the types of digital signal modulation used in modems. Demonstrate knowledge of the protocols used in modems. Demonstrate knowledge of the structure and operating principles of wireless terminals. Skills Connect and configure telephones to a network. Connect and configure ADSL modems and wireless access points to a network. Configure wireless terminals.

Summary of the subject: The course "Terminal Equipment of Telecommunication Systems and Networks" provides students with knowledge about the structure and operation of terminal equipment, with which users of telecommunication networks directly interact. The acquired practical skills allow you to connect terminal equipment to the network and configure it.
Опис: Introduction. The content of the discipline "Terminal Equipment of Telecommunication Systems and Networks". Basic concepts. Evolution of subscriber terminals. Chapter 1. Telephone Sets The structural diagram of a telephone set. The bridge circuit of a telephone set. The compensatory circuit of a telephone set. Schematic diagrams of telephone sets: schematic diagram of electromechanical telephone sets, schematic diagram of modern electronic telephone sets. Transmission of address information from telephone sets: dial pulse signaling (DPS), Dual-tone multi-frequency signaling (DTMF). Subscriber signaling of analog terminals. Telephone sets with radio access. DECT standard. ISDN subscriber terminals. Chapter 2. Modems Principles of modem operation. Types of modulation for modem connections. Error correction and data compression functions. The structural diagram of a modem. xDSL modems. Wireless network access points. Wi-Fi technology. Chapter 3. Mobile Terminals Wireless Broadband Access networks. Generations of 2G, 3G, 4G terminals. HDSPA, LTE technologies. Data transmission between mobile terminals. Bluetooth, BLE, Mesh networks technologies. Mobile operating systems. iOS. Android. Technologies for creating mobile applications. Chapter 4. Trends in Terminal Equipment Development 5G technology. Internet of Things (IoT).

Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.
