Learning outcomes: to know the principles of functioning of mechanisms of bioutilization of materials and waste; to know the ways of utilizing waste when applying different raw materials, materials and products.

Summary of the subject: Nutrient media. Types, advantages and disadvantages of artificial and natural nutrient media. Ingredients of nutrient media. Utilization of waste by biotechnological method. Ways of biodegradation of solid waste. Methods of estimation of solid waste biodegradation. Methods of waste disposal in landfills. Biological degradation system of waste at landfills. Utilization and disinfection of sludge from bio-clearing stations. Biosystems of composting. Bioremediation of water, soil and atmosphere using the metabolic potential of biological objects - plants, mushrooms, insects and other organisms or their enzymes.
Assessment methods and criteria: • written report from laboratory work, oral questioning, final test - 40 points; • final control (test) - 60 points (written-oral form).
