Learning outcomes: - to know the basics of one of the general technical disciplines necessary for the knowledge of the basic laws of thermodynamics, thermodynamic analysis methods, chemical-technological systems. - be able to calculate the basic thermodynamic processes make calculations of heat exchangers, furnaces draw heat balance. - to understand the main trends and prospects of practical application of heat engineering in chemical engineering.

Summary of the subject: The working body. The thermodynamic parameters. The thermodynamic process. Ideal gas. Basic laws of ideal gas. Ideal gas law. A mixture of ideal gases. The concept of heat and work. The first law of thermodynamics and its analysis. Working gas. Heat capacity of gases. Thermal chart. Analysis of thermodynamic processes of ideal gas. Thermodynamic fundamentals of compressor cars. The second law of thermodynamics. Forward and reverse Carnot cycle. Cycles of heat engines. Basic theory of heat transfer. Convective heat transfer. Basic theory of similarity. The heat transfer coefficient and its determination in some specific cases. Heat and Mass Transfer radiation. The laws of thermal radiation. Radiation of solids and gases. Advanced heat. The main types of heat exchangers. Calibration and constructive calculation of heat exchangers.
Assessment methods and criteria: • written reports on practical works, oral questioning (30%) • final control (control measure - test): written and oral form (70%)
