Learning outcomes: - knowledge of the structure and current trends in the development of mechanisms and systems of car engines; - knowledge of work processes occurring in internal combustion engines; - knowledge of the structure, principles of operation and characteristics of the mechanisms of the internal combustion engine that convert the energy of fuel combustion into mechanical work; - knowledge of the structure, principles of operation and characteristics of internal combustion engine systems that ensure its efficient operation; - knowledge of the structure and current trends in the design of car transmissions; - knowledge of the structure, principle of operation and characteristics of discrete-variable transmissions of cars; - knowledge of the structure, principle of operation and characteristics of continuously variable transmissions of cars; - ability to independently master new designs of cars and their mechanisms; - the ability to analyze the technical level of construction of cars, their components and systems, to identify possible areas for improvement; - ability to communicate, including oral and written communication in Ukrainian and foreign languages; - ability to use various methods, in particular modern information technologies, for effective communication at professional and social levels; - ability to realize the need for lifelong learning in order to deepen the acquired and acquire new professional knowledge.
Required prior and related subjects: - Theory of motion of vehicles; - Theoretical mechanics; - Strength of Materials.
Summary of the subject: During the study of this discipline, the student acquires theoretical and practical knowledge and skills to determine the structure and principle of operation of components, units, mechanisms and systems of cars, as well as current trends in automotive engineering. The analysis and synthesis of structural principles of construction of knots, units, mechanisms and systems of cars is carried out and optimum depending on conditions of operation of the car are defined. Know the basic concepts of creating environmentally friendly vehicles.
Assessment methods and criteria: - current control (30 %): written reports on laboratory work (15%) and practical exercises (15%), oral questioning. - the final test (70 %, inspections, and examination): written exam (60 %) and oral form (10%).

Learning outcomes: - know the components of the car drive and their purpose; - be able to calculate: the characteristics of the engine of the car drive, the operating range of the transmission, the traction characteristics of the car and the time of its acceleration; - be able to analyze the integration of a reciprocating internal combustion engine with a continuously variable transmission.
Required prior and related subjects: - Theory of motion of vehicles; - Theoretical mechanics; - Strength of Materials.
Summary of the subject: According to the technical characteristics of a given car to calculate and graphically display: drive motor characteristics, operating range of continuously variable transmission, traction characteristics of the car in the coordinates traction force-speed and power-speed, acceleration time to 100 km/h.
Assessment methods and criteria: Final control (100% protection of course work): term paper, oral examination
