Summary of the subject: Theory of Mechanisms and Machines (TMM) is the science of general methods of studying mechanisms and machines and the scientific basis of their design. Design of mechanisms is a complex problem, the solution of which is divided into several stages. TMM mainly considers the tasks of the first stage of design, with the help of which kinematic schemes of mechanisms that reproduce the desired law of motion are developed. It is clear that all subsequent stages of design are based on the first defining stage. The TMM course is a connecting link between the cycle of general scientific disciplines and the cycle of special disciplines in which machines and devices of individual branches of technology are studied. TMM is the basis for the study of courses of machine parts, the basics of machine design, lifting and transport devices, courses on the calculation and design of certain types of machines.
